Insightful Systems were contracted to develop an automated solution to manage the process of weighing heifers at their feedlot. We developed a custom app that integrated with an existing RFID tag reader and the weighing unit, communicating directly to FileMaker via serial cable. The new FileMaker database provides the following key features:
- Identify animal via RFID ear tags as they enter the cattle crush
- Record current weight of
animal - Display history of animal weight vs target weight
- Reporting tools allow comparison of current weight vs target weight across selected cows or the entire herd
